Welcome to the Legal Field Podcast. My name is Amanda Perry Carl and I am the host of the podcast. This episode is very special, as this marks the one year anniversary of The Legal Field Podcast! It has been such a fun year with the most incredible guests!
We kicked off the podcast, on our very first episode last June with Dr. Michael Olexa as our guest. We called this episode “Where it all started” because professor Olexa was one who truly inspired my career in ag law.
Since that first episode, we have had incredible, inspirational, and sometimes hilarious conversations with some fabulous guests! We have heard about the hope for the future of Florida citrus from Steven Hall of the Citrus Research and Field Trial Foundation. We have discussed the really cool things that The Ugly Company is doing in the food waste space, with Ben Moore, the founder of The Ugly Company. We even shared some hilarious stories about our ancestors being train robbers and pirates.
We had some incredible young “agripreneurs” as our guests last September, as we were joined by Quinn and Grace Pittman from Quinn Pittman Goat Products and Freedom Range Farms. This brother sister duo showed us that you are never too young to make a difference in ag!
We talked about things technology in ag with Erik Larsen, which was super cool as Erik and I got to work together in our past jobs. Erik has recently taken a really cool position as _Direcotr of supply chain with International Fresh Produce Association.
It was so “sweet” to have Stephanie Stuckey on in November, as you can’t go wrong with pecan and pecan roll royalty in a month known for pecan pies! Stephanie share the amazing comeback story of her family business!
2026 kicked off with the opportunity to have some amazing friends on the podcast to talk about some critical topics in ag. Jimmy Evans of PPM Sports Turf and Sustainable Agronomc Solutions came on the pod to talk about the turf industry, as well as the importance of mentoring and building up our next generation of leaders!
Erin Buss Executive VP of Development and Strategy at Southeast Trust Company in Ocala, FL came on to talk about the critical topic of estate planning in ag – this is something that is so important for the continuity of our industry!
Traci Deen, president and CEO of conservation florida joined us in March to talk about the amazing work that CF is doing and just how important conservation is in Florida.
Our listeners were able to learn a whole lot about IP in agriculture from incredible IP attorney, and someone that I have been fortunate to work with, David Gerasimow.
And our last two episodes of this first year hit on such incredibly timely topics that we had to squeeze them both in:
Sean McNerney, President of Howard Fertilizer, joined us to talk about the current state and the outlook for the fertilizer market.
We were then joined by Chelsea Good, a fellow ag lawyer and consultant who does a lot of work in the livestock space, and one of our topics of discussion was the new world screwworm.
Y’all – this has been a great first year for the legal field podcast and if you have missed an episode, I encourage you to go listen to it! I also encourage you to go relisten to all of our amazing episodes.
I have dropped links for our guest’s websites in the description for this episode. Thank you so much to all of our wonderful guests over the past year and I can’t wait for you all to see what we have in store for year 2!
But in the meantime, here is a replay of the episode that kicked it all off!
